WXXI Seeks Reporter

WXXI Public Broadcasting seeks an innovative and inquisitive reporter to cover a wide range of issues for the region’s most respected newsroom in Rochester, NY. 

The reporter/producer will live in the region and report daily news and in-depth pieces on a wide range of issues including politics, education, the economy and the arts.

This reporting position also includes the opportunity to be part of a multiplatform initiative providing high-profile reporting on issues pertaining to disabilities.  

WXXI’s merged TV, radio and online newsrooms benefit from a collaborative culture and the resources of NPR and PBS. The bulk of the stories you will report will be audio and radio stories.  You may contribute to television news programs on occasion and WXXI will provide support and / or training for video production of news stories that appear on TV.  This position reports to the news director.

We are searching for a reporter who has a keen interest in creative story-telling across many platforms. Since WXXI is a leader in collaborative journalism involving multi-partner projects, enthusiasm for collaboration is a must for this position.

You'll need to be an excellent writer, be engaged with social media and have experience with, or a willingness to learn digital-first production. Experience producing digital video is a plus.
