WCVE Seeks City of Richmond Reporter

The Community Idea Stations is seeking a City of Richmond/Breaking News Reporter for our FM Station 88.9 WCVE News. This is a full time position with benefits and reports to the News Director.

This position will cover the Richmond Mayor’s office and administration, Richmond City Council, Richmond Planning Commission, Richmond Economic Development Authority and other breaking news. This position will also assist the State Politics, Education and Legal Reporters when necessary and may host occasional news programs as needed. 

Candidates should be willing to work as needed during day and evening hours. Weekend hours and overtime will be periodically required. This reporter will serve as the on-call weekend reporter every 3 weeks. During the General Assembly session, this reporter should plan on working overtime for 6-8 weeks.  

Successful candidates will be proficient in Adobe Audition or similar editing software and have web and social media‐based editing and production skills. Two to three years of experience as an on‐air reporter is required and public radio experience is strongly preferred. Photography skills are a plus. Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license and have the ability to travel.
