Did you know that PRNDI offers three generous student scholarships each year to deserving young journalists? Well, it does!
How It Works
Any student whose work is recognized in the PRNDI Annual Awards Competition can enter the scholarship competition. Each year, student award winners are asked to write an essay on "What Public Radio Means to Me." The PRNDI Board judges entries and chooses up to three students for recognition.
Each winner receives an all expenses paid trip to attend the PRNDI Conference in June. PRNDI covers the cost of travel, lodging, and conference registrations for each of the three students. In addition, each student receives a $500 cash award from PRNDI. During the conference, the students serve as the PRNDI Press Corps - helping cover and report on conference sessions and events, working alongside a professional mentor.
Sounds Great! How Can My Students Apply?
This competition starts at the local station level. Have students who produced great work in 2018? Enter it as part of your PRNDI Annual Awards Competition submissions.
As a reminder, PRNDI's student categories are: Student Soft Feature, Student Hard Feature, Student Newscast and Student Spot News.
All of the winners - both first and second place - from those categories will be asked to submit an essay for consideration for the scholarship.
