Joining with journalistic organizations like RTDNA and SPJ, the PRNDI Board has called upon the University of Kentucky to release documents requested under the Commonwealth of Kentucky’s Open Records Laws. The records were requested by the University’s public radio station, as part of an investigation into the competency of care provided by the Pediatric and Congenital Heart Program at UK Healthcare.  The program was shut down last year by UK Healthcare and patients referred to out of state providers.

WKU Public Radio seeks applications for a reporter/All Things Considered host to join our award-winning news team. This reporter/host will produce and anchor weekday afternoon newscasts, produce news features and interviews, and serve as local host for All Things Considered. WKU Public Radio operates four transmitters serving a population of 1.3 million across Kentucky, southern Indiana, and northern Tennessee. Studios and offices are located on the campus of Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, KY.

Each year, PRNDI honors an individual or organization that has made significant contributions to public radio news. Next month in Cleveland, the PRNDI Board selects the 2013 recipient of the Leo C. Lee Award. We are currently accepting nominations from member -stations. To nominate an individual or organization, please contact your representative on the PRNDI board. Including a written justification for the award is also helpful.

This morning, we are holding a news conference with local civic and business leaders in New Orleans to announce that we’re joining with WWNO and the University of New Orleans to support the launch of a new local journalism partnership.

WWNO moved to an all-news format this past Monday, introducing several NPR produced and distributed shows to the New Orleans community – including Tell Me More and On Point. 

Vermont Public Radio is seeking an ethusiastic news producer to join its daily news magazine V ermont Edition . Primary responsibilities are booking, researching and line-producing regional news segments for a daily one-hour news-talk magazine program; working with host and fellow producers on live and recorded show segments; field recording, editing and mixing audio; and creating website and social media content for the broadcast.

In recent years, annual conferences have been enhanced through collaborations with public radio broadcasters in host cities.  NPR has always given PRNDI a warm welcome when conferences are conducted in Washington DC.  In 2010, pubcasters in Kentucky provided conference goers with an evening of horse racing at Churchill Downs.  This year, colleagues at KUHF in Houston made numerous contributions, including a reception and an evening of baseball at Minute Maid Park. In 2013, PRNDI embarks on its deepest conference collaboration to date.
